Description
- The Forensic Evaluation skill allows players to use a skinning knife on corpses to acquire leather and meat. Leather is primarily used by Tailors for crafting armor while meat is used by the Cooking skill to craft food and meals. Forensic Evaluation also provides a bonus to melee and spell damage, as well as increasing a player's effective Barding skills.

- Players can harvest Leather using a Skinning Knife and have a chance to carve colored leather from corpses
- Players will always receive their bonuses to Damage and Barding skill from the Forensic Eval skill even if they have not Skinned Creatures recently
- Players can use Forensic Evaluation or a Skinning Knife and target themselves or the ground nearby to activate "Smart Harvest" which will carve all "grey" notoriety corpses within 2 tiles
- Carving a creature corpse will automatically open the corpse for the player
- You can use Forensic Evaluation on yourself in order to harvest the closest body
- Players have a chance to carve colored leather from corpses and all leather colors are possible on any creature, provided the player meets the material's skill requirements
- All creatures are carvable for leather and meat, and have a chance of special cooking ingredients, scaled based on the player's Forensic Evaluation skill
Details
- Using the Forensic Eval Skill or Skinning Knives to carve a corpse or SmartHarvest nearby corpses is not restricted by Global Skill Cooldowns, and instead the Forensic Eval skill has its own unique cooldown of 0.5 seconds (i.e players using Stealth/Hiding will not be required to wait 10 seconds to carve corpses)
- The amount of leather and meat when carving corpses is (50% + (150% * (Forensic Evaluation Skill / 100)) of the base amount for the creature
- The chance for a player to harvest colored leather instead of regular leather is (7.5% * (1 + Tool Bonus))
- Paragons and Boss creatures will always have colored leather instead of regular leather if you have sufficient Forensic Skill
- The skill also provides the following supplemental bonus to spell and melee damage in PvM: (25% * (Forensic Evaluation Skill / 100)) and PvP: (10% * (Forensic Evaluation Skill / 100))
- Note: this damage bonus is now passive just by having the skill, you won't see the message shown in the gif below any longer
Harvesting Colored Leather
Note: "Effective Skill" is the sum of your raw (printed) skill, Harvest Aspect bonus (when activated on your armor), and any Effective Harvest Skill Mastery Chain Links (installed on an active chain).
Colored Skinning Knives
Players using exceptional and colored material Skinning Knives will receive a Tool Bonus to their chance of harvesting colored leather as follows (with all applicable bonuses stacking):
Skinning Maps
- When using Skinning Maps, search radius is increased by (100% * (Forensic Eval Skill / 100))
Buffs
- Players will not have a Buff Icon for the Forensic Eval skill since its bonus is always active
PvM Bonus
- Forensic Evaluation grants bonus '''supplemental spell and melee damage''' (including archery) against creatures. The maximum is 30%. Formula: (25% * (Forensic Evaluation Skill / 100))
- When attacking a creature, add Base Weapon Damage * Current Forensic Evaluation Bonus damage per swing.
- The maximum Effective Barding skill bonus that can be achieved is 12. Formula: (10 * (Forensic Evaluation Skill / 100))
PvP Bonus
- Forensic Evaluation grants bonus '''supplemental spell and melee damage''' (including archery) against players. The maximum is 12%. Formula: (10% * (Forensic Evaluation Skill / 100))
- When attacking a player, add Base Weapon Damage * Current Forensic Evaluation Bonus damage per swing.
