Description
- The Stealth skill allows players who have hidden using the Hiding skill, to remain hidden while walking short distances. Players must wait a few moments after hiding to become eligible to start making 'Stealth Steps'. When hidden and making a weapon attack against a creature, if the player has 80 skill or more in both Hiding and Stealth, they can perform a 'Backstab' attack for vastly increased damage. Running will always reveal a hidden player.
Summary
- Must have at least 80 Hiding to be able to Stealth
- Players gain (5 + (10 * (Stealth Skill / 100))) Stealth steps per Stealth activation
- After the Hiding Skill Use Timer has expired, you will receive a system message indicating "You feel comfortable enough to begin stealthing."
- Players have a 100% * (Stealth Skill / 100) chance to successfully stealth after being hidden for 10 seconds, you are revealed on a failure
- While Stealthing, if you have moved more than your available steps before the Stealth Skill Use Timer has expired (10s), you will need to wait to continue Stealthing. You will see a system message "You feel ready to continue stealthing", when you are able to continue without revealing yourself.
- A Magical Wizards Hat can be used to consume stamina and prevent accidentally revealing yourself by stepping on other monsters or players. It can be procured from an NPC Mage vendor.
Auto-Stealth Command
- If a player has Auto-Stealth enabled, when 10 seconds have passed since their last Stealth usage (skill cooldown) and they still have Stealth Steps remaining, they will now receive a "You will automatically stealth when out of steps" message
- If a player has Auto-Stealth enabled and they have reached 0 Stealth Steps remaining, they will receive a "You feel ready to continue stealthing" message if they can immediately continue stealthing (i.e. 10 seconds has passed since last Stealth skill usage)
- Toggle Auto-Stealth by typing "[AutoStealth"
Backstabbing
A player who is stealthed can perform a Backstab attack against creatures and must:
- Be in weapon range
- Have at least 80 Stealth skill and 80 skill in their equipped weapon's skill
Backstab attacks have the following modifiers:
- A player's accuracy when making Backstab attacks is +25%
- Chance to inflict poison increased by +25%
- Players cannot trigger Weapon Specials or Weapon Abilities on Backstab hits
More Info
- The Damage multiplier for Stealth Backstabs is anywhere from +800% to +1600% scaled to the weapon's speed
- Backstab damage is also scaled by (Backstab Damage * (Stealth Skill / 100))
- Backstab damage can be further increased with Mastery Chain Links or Shadow Aspect.
- Dice rolls for resolving damage on Stealth Backstabs are now rolled an additional time and take the best result (can stack with additional rolls from other sources)
- Players making a backstab attempt receive a 50% Aspect Special chance bonus for the next 30 seconds (Shown in [Stats -> Melee for it's duration). This does not apply if the attempt is made when Stealthed via Shadow Aspect Special
- Players attacking other players from stealth will make the same Backstab sound effect, but they will receive no bonuses to the attack.
- Relevant skills have 10x their normal chance to result in a skill gain when a Backstab attack is made.
Stealth Backstab Engagement Penalty
Players making a Stealth Backstab (including Mugging/Pilfering) against a creature that is currently aggroed onto another player or player follower will receive a 50% Damage penalty unless any of the following is true:
- The creature is a Boss-type creature
- The Aggroed Player/Follower flags as Green to the backstabbing player
- The Aggroed Player/Follower is in the same Party as the backstabbing player
- The player has already landed a Stealth Backstab against the same creature
- The backstabber player has dealt the most total damage to creature of any player (and their followers)
- Players will receive a system message informing them if their Stealth Backstab had an engagement penalty applied to it
